The shell and cover of the double chamber are stamped with steel plates and are connected with clamps and bolts to form the whole Shell. The shell is separated into two completely isolated gas chambers by a cloth rubber diaphragm between them. The Air Chamber between the Diaphragm and the cover communicates with the double-chamber Brake Valve, and the air chamber between the diaphragm and the housing is usually atmospheric. When in the Free State, the diaphragm is close to the cover plate, and the other side is in contact with the disc on the push rod. A return spring is arranged between the disc and the inner end face of the shell. The whole Brake Chamber is bolted to a special bracket.
The working principle of single and double chambers is the Compressed air from the foot brake valve enters the lower chamber through the air inlet. The air pressure acts on the diaphragm and on the brake adjustment arm through the push rod, which produces brake torque on the wheel. When stopping or emergency braking, the hand brake valve removes the Compressed air of the upper chamber through the exhaust port, creating braking torque on the wheels.
